The "View" preference allows you to choose how many columns of text you wish to see on the screen at one time. At the top of the options bar you should see the word "View:" followed by 3 icons. Each of these icons represents a different "View" preference. The first icon () (or 1-Column View) displays one column of text on the screen which takes up 100% of the screen width. The second icon () (or 2-Column View) displays two columns of text side by side which each take up 50% of the screen width. The third and final icon () represents the 3-Column View. This View displays three columns of text on the screen, each taking up 33% of the screen width. This is the default and most commonly used "View". I leave it up to you to decide which View you prefer best.
